David Hakopyan is an Armenian-American music producer, songwriter, bass player, and entrepreneur. Born in Yerevan and raised in Los Angeles, he is best known as the bassist for The Apex Theory and the original bassist for Soil (System of a Down). Currently, he leads Antenna The End, his proudest achievement.​ David’s early life involved working in his parents’ taco trucks, where he learned business skills. By age 14, music had taken over his life, starting with classical guitar and then bass guitar. At 15, he joined his first professional band with Serj Tankian, eventually becoming part of Soil, which later became System of a Down.​ By 23, David had extensive experience as a session player and band member. After a series of industry challenges, he co-founded The Apex Theory, which signed with Dreamworks Records in 2001. They released their debut album in 2002, gaining national and European recognition.​ In 2007, David transitioned to film and commercial scoring, winning awards for "People’s Advocate the Movie" and founding MuteUnMute Music & Sound. His company has produced music for international and national campaigns, including Prius, Mazda, McDonald's, and Boeing projects.​ David teamed up with Teen Cancer America to do a Spinal Tap cover of Flower People w/ his band Antenna The End (featuring John Dolmayan/System of a Down). David is honored to be a part of such an important cause, ready to lend his time & energy in hopes of helping teens & young adults who have been hit by the awful C Word (Cancer).
